North's New Book

Greetings,

Last year I was approached by the National Story Telling Federation and Lori Silverman to write a chapter about Story Telling in organizations as a tool for positive change. I was one of about fifteen contributors. After much effort on Lori's part, as the editor, the book is being released next week. She partially dedicated the book to me, which was very gratifying. It is being published by Jossey Bass and is set for a wide market release- major retail bookstores and Amazon.com. It is getting some great comments like...
“An easy to read, well organized compilation of stories that demonstrates their power across a broad spectrum of business needs.” Ellen Bovarnick, vice president, Business Process Excellence, The Coca-Cola Company.

For more comments and overview download the Book pdf flyer at Wake Me Up When the Data Is Over By Lori Silverman or go direct to Amazon and pre-order. And please pass this information on to your contacts. Not only will they find it useful, but it will help me with getting noticed as a published writer! Proceeds will be benefiting the National Story Telling Federation and writing costs.

As you know, Story Telling is a passion of mine. I have found that it a navigation tool and personal sharing process that turns difficult change into blessings. This Blog is a form of Story Telling. Over the past 6 months, the more Stef and I have shared our story the more our personal experience was made easier. The unexpected benifit was how something we wrote touched others and that in turn helped them in facing change.

In Wake Me Up When the Data Is Over, I contributed a chapter about leaders in five organizations that were faced with difficult challenge of changing old ways. I interviewed the leaders about their experiences in using story. For some it was about motivating employees to work together more effectively and for others it was about better service to customers. The common thread that I found in their stories of change was how Story Telling was a managerial tool. By engaging others about a pending change via Story, the process of getting over resistance and uncertainty of what the future holds became easier. Story Telling is a energizing tool that can help managers and leaders of organizations large and small move to higher ground.

As a footnote, this was a project I worked on last year. Stef and I have been exploring how we can create our own book from this year's journey. Look for us to annouce our intentions soon!

Thanks for all your support!

Marianne Williamson is doing a talk in OC for North!

Hi everyone! Blessings for a beautiful end of summer. We are doing well. It has been 7 months since diagnosis, 6 since surgery and 3 since the end of chemo and radiation. We continue to feel your love and support as we live through this time of healing and uncertainty. Thank you. We have good news to share and that good increases with your participation. Please join us!

After we get the "all-clear" from North's PET scan in October, (please continue your prayers for a "cancer-is-all-gone" test result) he will need a new half-mouthful of teeth and an orbital prosthetic (fake eye and lids, etc.) Even with the help of some insurance, the cost for us is up to 7-10 grand. Yowza! But, as proven time and again on this journey, with love, support and lots of prayers, when a need arises the result is often miraculous!

Best-selling author, teacher and friend, Marianne Williamson (www.marianne.com)
has really stepped up and opened her generous heart to help. She will be giving a talk/lecture on Nov. 5th in South OC, with money earned going towards the costs of North's facial reconstruction. We are so grateful and excited!

This is a "new face" fund-raiser AND a not-to-be-missed chance to see, hear and meet one of the most dynamic teachers and forward thinkers of our time. I agree with Wayne ...
"I consider Marianne to be one of our most profound teachers of transformational wisdom. This book (her work) is truly a gift to the world."
- Wayne W. Dyer author of The Power of Intention

(See end of blog for more info about Marianne.)

So mark your calendars for SUNDAY, NOV. 5th, 2006, most likely in the afternoon/evening, and please tell all of your friends!
Stay tuned for final details of exact location, time and ways to purchase tickets.

And Marianne, thank you. We love and appreciate you SO MUCH!
Life is - Friends are - WE are - and God is... GOOD, GOOD, GOOD!!
Many blessings and miracles,
Stef
